We are seeking talented, enthusiastic, and experienced Counselors and Lead Teachers to join our wonderful Nueva Summer team for 2017.

Position of Counselor

 

Position Description

We are seeking talented, enthusiastic and experienced Counselors to join our summer program. Nueva Summer Camp runs from 6/26-7/28.  All Counselors are required to attend our training program on 6/22-23, the week prior to the start of camp.

 

Counselor responsibilities include:

  1. Support camp structure and systems to inspire campers and build camp spirit.
  2. Implement daily lesson plans in collaboration with other staff assigned to your camp.
  3. Assist the Lead Teacher assigned to teach and deliver curriculum.
  4. Mentor and supervise any youth leaders assigned to assist your camp.
  5. Attend daily camp staff meetings.
  6. Attend staff training.
  7. Maintain equipment and supplies.
  8. Other duties may be included, such as: drop off/pick up supervision, break, and lunch supervision, before- and after-care supervision, and substitution.

Hours and Compensation

Counselors will work full-day, Monday through Friday for the duration of Nueva Summer.
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the camp topic and a desire to deepen your understanding.
  • Experience with and passion for working with children.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, creative, and flexible outlook.

All applicants will be fingerprinted prior to employment.

Applicants currently enrolled in high school will need to obtain a work permit from your school.

Position of Lead Teacher

 

Position Description

We are seeking talented, enthusiastic and experienced Lead Teacher to join our Summer Camp for entering 3rd to 8th Graders. Nueva Summer runs from 6/27 -7/29.

 

Lead Teacher responsibilities include:

  1. Develop curriculum and all lesson plans for your camps.
  2. Lead instruction to a group of 15 or less K-8th grade students per camp.
  3. Manage any Counselors assigned to support your camp.
  4. Mentor and supervise any youth leaders assigned to assist your camp.
  5. Attend staff training.
  6. Request and maintain equipment and supplies.
  7. Other duties may be included, such as: drop off/pick up supervision, break and lunch supervision.

Hours and Compensation

Stipends based on years of teaching experience in school and camp settings.

Stipends are competitive and commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA (in related field or otherwise).
  • Knowledge of the course topic and a desire to deepen your understanding.
  • Experience with and passion for working with children.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, creative and flexible outlook.
  • Ability to manage and inspire support staff assigned to your camp.
